Help Desk
A support system designed to assist end users with technical and functional questions communicated via phone, voicemail or e-mail. The term Help Desk is often used as a synonym for Service Desk.

Help Desk Administrator
The person responsible for managing the applications, systems, and processes used by Call Centers or Help Desks. These systems track and resolve issues that are reported by users.

Heterogeneous
Varied, diverse.

Heterogeneous Database Integration
An approach to delivering information where a query is decomposed into a series of queries posed to a set of data stores, with the results integrated into a global answer set.

Hierarchy
A system of ranking and organizing things in which larger groups encompass sets of smaller groups. In a strict hierarchy no element can be a member of more than one subset at a given level of the hierarchy. Organization charts are examples of hierarchies. Taxononomies can be represented as hierarchies, with defined navigation paths for drilling up and drilling down. In contrast, relational databases depict relationships that can be expressed in multiple ways.

Hierarchy
Defines a strata of summary dimension attributes arranged in parent-child relationships. For many warehouse tools, this pre-defines the manner in which the user can drill down to a lower level of detail. An example: within the Geography summary dimension might be Nation, State and ZIP Code. (Data Warehouse definition)

Historical Databases
A corporate repository of data used to report prior time period information.

Household
see Householding

Householding
A methodology of consolidating names and addresses. Householding is a key element of using data for marketing purposes. It refers to the process of grouping and filtering information about a given person, family, household or company

Hub-And-Spoke
An architectural approach where systems do not connect directly to each other as they do with tightly-coupled architectures, but instead connect through a centralized mechanism.
